Sowing instructions: 'Evening Red' is an annual sunflower variety with a beautiful, warm, alternating brownish-red petal colour. The centres of the flowers are also brown, of course, and produce the sought-after oil seed. The plants do not branch much, if at all. The single stems - with the flower in top - grow to about 180 cm high. Sunflowers love sun and are always facing it. Wonderful at the back of the border or just anywhere, as an accent. If necessary, give it a growth support. Excellent cut flower.
Sow: in April-May directly in a seedbed in the garden or in March in a greenhouse. Sow in moist soil, cover the seedling with ¾ cm of soil and press lightly. After emergence transplant temporarily to separate pots (prick out) or directly to the final growing spot. Planting distance 40 cm. Always provide adequate moisture.
Flowering: from mid-July to October. The edible seed of the flowers can be harvested after flowering.
IMPORTANT: On the seed packaging you will find the correct sowing instructions so that you can enjoy a quality flower.
